Early Literacy/Reading Engagement Website Links
These are books that you can use to tell stories to your child in your home language. You can teach your child to “read the pictures” by looking at the pictures to tell the story. It can help support your child’s early reading skills and help him/her get ready for kindergarten. Some wordless picture books have complex, abstract concepts, but can still be used to talk about the pictures without needed to translate from English.
Ask a librarian for help finding the books (and new ones) if needed. Watertown Free Public Library also has books in many languages and a librarian can help you to find those as well.
